Physical Description

A bipedal creature with the head of a horse or goat, bat-like wings spanning 6 feet, cloven hooves, and a forked tail. Stands approximately 3 to 4 feet tall when on the ground but is most often observed in flight. Emits a blood-curdling shriek that witnesses describe as the sound of a woman screaming.

Legend & Lore

According to the most prevalent legend, a woman known as Mother Leeds, upon discovering she was pregnant with her thirteenth child, cursed the unborn infant to the Devil. The child was born deformed and fled into the Pine Barrens of New Jersey, where it has haunted the region for nearly three centuries. The creature became a national sensation during the Great Jersey Devil Panic of January 1909, when over 1,000 people across multiple states reported encounters in a single week.
